Welcome to Look Thursday! Today I used my Makeup Geek Ultimate Palette to put together a look perfect for Christmas.
Since I spend Christmas with my family, I wanted to do something a little more subtle than the sparkly traditional gold, red and/or greens looks that are normally used to represent this holiday. So I decided to go with purples on my lid and nude lips. I did add just a bit of sparkle to my inner corner (hey, it is Christmas after all) and used Milani’s Black Vinyl liner to spice it up a bit.
For this look I used:
Eyes: Makeup Geek eye shadows in Beaches and Cream, Cocoa Bear, Prom Night, Unexpected, Sensuous, Drama Queen, Wet n’ Wild Fergie eye shadow primer in (), Milani liquid liner in Black Vinyl, Urban Decay 24/7 Eye pencil in Zero, Wet n’ Wild Megalength waterproof mascara
Brows: Jordana eye brown pencil in Dark Brown
Face: Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer (check out my review here), MAC Matchmaster Foundation shade 7.5, L.A. Girl Pro.conceal HD concealer in Fawn, Rudy Kisses mineral powder in Chestnut, Black Radiance pressed powder in Rich Mahogany as a light contour, Iman Sheer Finish bronzing powder in Afterglow as a highlight, and e.l.f. cosmetics makeup setting spray
Lips: Nyx lip primer in Deep Nude, Nyx lip pencil in Chestnut, and Wet n’ Wild LE matte lipstick in Sweet Cream
I hope you have a wonderful and happy holiday season!
I know I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus, but I am back with a new design and a new format! As the title states, today is Splurge Saturday! I know this blog is mainly about drugstore brand items and not breaking the bank supporting your makeup habit, but I think everyone deserves to splurge every now and then. Today’s Splurge Saturday is featuring Makeup Geek eye shadows that I’ve recently purchased.
I had Makeup Geek eye shadows on my wishlist for about a year. I watched several beauty vloggers use them and rave about how awesomeness of this product. Well now that I have them in my possession, I must agree!
It was very difficult trying to decide which shadows to pick. Luckily for me, I was able to purchase the Makeup Geek Ultimate Palette which contained 27 shadows plus a beautiful custom Makeup Geek Large Z Palette.
I also purchased a single eyeshadow named Stealth. It is a matte gray shadow that I had to have because I had nothing like it in my collection. All of the eye shadows came individually packaged so I was able to arrange them however I wanted in the Z Palette.
This palette was a steal at $159.99! If purchased separately, I would have paid over $160 for the eye shadows alone. Makeup Geek is at a price point that is slightly above what you will find in the drugstore, but well below higher end brands such as MAC. The eye shadows are a good price, $5.99 each, without sacrificing quality.
I tried the eye shadows out for the first time on Thanksgiving. I first applied my makeup around noon and I did not remove it until after midnight. My makeup looked the same, if not better, in the evening when I returned home.
Overall I have to say that Makeup Geek has a new fan! I already have other items (the new foiled shadows) on my wishlist, hopefully you will see them on a future Splurge Saturday soon!
One of the final pieces from the Fergie Centerstage Collection that I will be reviewing is one of the to reflect shimmer palettes. The palette I purchased is Carnaval in Rio. I really love this as a subtle golden highlight.
In the pan, Carnaval in Rio is a peach color with gold veining. I found it to leave a beautiful gold sheen on my face that is truly noticeable when the light hits it so that I shimmer and not shine! Because of its subtleness, I found the swatch difficult to photograph, but my efforts are below.
Hello Beauties! Today I have a review of the Desert Festival palette from the Wet n Wild Fergie Centerstage Collection. This palette contains five eyeshadows. In the upper left corner, there is a sparkly beige; in the upper right corner, a bright red orange; the bottom right corner, a dark brown with golden glitter; in the bottom left corner, a light orange with golden glitter; and in the center, a chocolate brown.
I was very pleased with the colors in this palette. The color pay off was very good with each shade. I was surprised to find that the glitter in the eyeshadow in this palette actually transferred to the eye, unlike the Dutchess Lounge palette. Overall, I think this palette is wonderful for a neutral look or a bright fun look.
Hello Beauties! Today I am reviewing one of the eyeshadow palettes from Wet n Wild’s Fergie Centerstage Collection. I picked up two eyeshadow palettes, three lipsticks, the eyeshadow primer, and one of the shimmer palettes. I usually review products of the same collection all together, but I wanted to give each item the attention that it deserves.
Each Fergie Centerstage Eyeshadow palette contains five colors. The Dutchess Lounge palette contains a matte purple, a silver, a black with purple glitter, a black with silver glitter, and a deep brownish purple color with multi colored glitter.
Over all, this palette was disappointing. It is definitely not of the same quality that I have come to know and expect from Wet n Wild products. I had to layer the purple on in order for it to show. When using the glittery shadows, I ended up with very little glitter on my eyelid and tons of glitter on my face. The most disappointing color of the palette was the completely sheer silver. Ultimately, I suggest that you leave this palette at the store!
Despite its dismal performance, I managed to put together a look using the purple and black with purple glitter and a few other products from the collection.
I was first introduced to Black Radiance products when I did my friends makeup for her wedding. Since I was just beginning to do makeup on others, I asked her to bring her foundation with her, and it was from black Radiance. That day prompted me to look more into the products that they offer because the foundation was pretty good (but we’ll discuss that later). I went to Rite Aid to find the Black Radiance selection and came across some beautiful baked blushes (try saying that three times fast, lol). The colors popped in the package and I hoped that they would be just as pigmented when I finally got them home. These blushes were way more pigmented than I expected. With the Warm Berry blush I have to use a very light hand so that I won’t over do it.
First let me say, I am absolutely in love with Milani Products! The newest product that I have tried is the Secret Cover Concealer Cream. I first have to commend Milani on having a nice range of brown girl friendly shades. I picked up the product in the four darkest shades: 03 Honey, 04 Tan, 05 Deep Tan, and 06 Warm Cocoa. This is definitely a creamy full coverage concealer. I like to scoop a little out and apply this product with my fingers. Honey is perfect in concealing my dark under eye circles! This has become one of my go to products. If you are looking for a full coverage creamy concealer, this is a must try!
