Today I spent some time thinking about my inner creative self. What would I look like if I could dress however I desired; what would I do with my hair and my makeup? Using these thoughts I came up with one look that definitely expresses the inner me.
So the inner me would have bold hair and makeup. If I ever decide to change my place of employment, I will look for a place where I can express my creativity through my hair and makeup.
I absolutely love bright, bold colors and I would wear them everyday if I could. I prefer to make bold statements using my physical apperance. Are you able to express yourself on a daily basis? Do you ever feel like you just want to take the risk and express your creative inner self even if it doesn’t fit your work environment?
I am so excited to finally get my hands on these wonderful pencils from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC)! They have been on my wish list since they came out last February. Just after Christmas, they were on sale for less than half the price on the Sephora website. The set originally cost $45, but Sephora had the set on sale for $22. That comes out to approximately $3.66 per pencil instead of the $16 per pencil these normally cost!!! Unfortunately, this set was limited edition for Christmas and is currently sold out.
This set contains: Pool Boy (blue), Hoochie (magenta), NSFW (red), Black Dahlia (darkened red), Tarred (black) and Feathered (white). The OCC pencils are very creamy which make applying them very easy. I haven’t tried them in the eye area yet, but I’m sure that application will be just as smooth as they were on my lips. These vibrant, opaque, long-lasting pencils can be used on either your lips or your eyes. However, there is a warning about using the red based pencils (Hoochie, NSFW, and Black Dahlia) in the eye area. I am a bit of a rebel and will probably use Black Dahlia in the eye area despite the warning. I have other products that had the same warning, but I did not have any type of reaction, so I will proceed until something happens.
I did play around with the pencils on my lips for Day 5 of #100daysoflippies. Using Black Dahlia and Tarred, I created a very vampy lip. I absolutely love how easy these blend together and the matte finish. They were not drying and were very comfortable on my lips.
The only thing that could make these pencils better is if they did not require sharpening.
I look forward to using these pencils in future posts!
Crafter’s Corner is a new category for 2015. Crafter’s Corner will feature products that I am crocheting or arm knitting. I learned how to crochet and knit when I was in elementary school and it is something that I now do to relax. Mainly, I crochet but I have recently fallen in love with arm knitting since it is so quick and easy. Through some encouragement from my friends (you know who you are), I have decided that 2015 is the perfect year to open an etsy shop. I thought it would be interesting to display the progress of some of the items on my blog. I will keep you updated with the progress of my etsy shop and any items I am currently working on.
I am starting this year off by getting some much needed use out of my many lip products. Everyday for the next 100 days (that’s a lot of days!), I will post a quick picture of my lips, product packaging, and lip product name. The challenge will be difficult to keep up with but it will be fun! Who knows if I successfully complete 100 days, maybe I’ll go for a whole year! If you are feeling up to the challenge, hash tag your pics #100daysoflippies on Instagram and Twitter!
Here is my NYE 2014 Makeup look! I wanted to do something a little bolder than what I usually go for (and I’ve been dying to use this Inglot pigment). For this look I went with purple and rose gold eye shadows with a pink lip. Since it is New Year’s Eve, I used one of my favorite sparkly highlighters. You can find details and pictures below (reviews coming soon!).
If you prefer to not have such a sparkly look, you could just use the shadows without the pigment.
Since I wear glasses, I did not put on false lashes, but I feel false lashes would make this look even better!
I hope you enjoyed this look. I am looking forward to posting more in the New Year!
Welcome to Look Thursday! Today I used my Makeup Geek Ultimate Palette to put together a look perfect for Christmas.
Since I spend Christmas with my family, I wanted to do something a little more subtle than the sparkly traditional gold, red and/or greens looks that are normally used to represent this holiday. So I decided to go with purples on my lid and nude lips. I did add just a bit of sparkle to my inner corner (hey, it is Christmas after all) and used Milani’s Black Vinyl liner to spice it up a bit.
For this look I used:
Eyes: Makeup Geek eye shadows in Beaches and Cream, Cocoa Bear, Prom Night, Unexpected, Sensuous, Drama Queen, Wet n’ Wild Fergie eye shadow primer in (), Milani liquid liner in Black Vinyl, Urban Decay 24/7 Eye pencil in Zero, Wet n’ Wild Megalength waterproof mascara
Brows: Jordana eye brown pencil in Dark Brown
Face: Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer (check out my review here), MAC Matchmaster Foundation shade 7.5, L.A. Girl Pro.conceal HD concealer in Fawn, Rudy Kisses mineral powder in Chestnut, Black Radiance pressed powder in Rich Mahogany as a light contour, Iman Sheer Finish bronzing powder in Afterglow as a highlight, and e.l.f. cosmetics makeup setting spray
Lips: Nyx lip primer in Deep Nude, Nyx lip pencil in Chestnut, and Wet n’ Wild LE matte lipstick in Sweet Cream
I hope you have a wonderful and happy holiday season!
